The ACU (UCP - Universal Camouflage Pattern) has been developed by the US Army Forces in 2004. Since 2005 it progressively replace the US WOODLAND (M81 Pattern) Combat Uniform previously used by the United States Army. This Universal Camouflage Pattern was designed to be effective in all environments (Woodland, Jungle, Desert & Urban). The ACU (Universal) is based on the Pixelization of Three-Color (Desert Sand, Gray & Foliage Green) that appears Lighter or Darker depending of the Sunlight & Shading Exposure . This computer-generated pattern also incorporates Near Infrared protection created to counter Night-Vision & Detection devices. Progressively starting in 2015, the US Army will replace the ACU (UCP - Universal) by a second generation of multi-environments camouflage designated as OCP (Operational Camouflage Pattern). Currently in use by the US Army, International Military Forces and Security Forces.
